The USC Sports Medicine Center is happy to offer free physicals every spring - usually in April - to high school (and middle school) athletes. As long as your school's athletic program participates in our S.M.A.R.T. Program, you don’t even need to schedule an appointment. Your athletic director can tell you the time assigned for your school; simply show up during that time and you will receive a free full physical. The free physicals are offered as part of the S.M.A.R.T. (Sports Medicine for Athletes and Recreational Teams) Program, developed by Dr. Jeff Guy, the medical director for USC athletics. Established to increase the level of medical care available to South Carolina secondary school athletes, especially those involved in high-risk contact sports, the S.M.A.R.T Program aims to prevent serious athletic injuries and to provide medical support to rehabilitate athletes who have been injured. These annual S.M.A.R.T. physicals help us to identify and treat potential health problems that keep you from performing at the top of your game. |
