The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Sports Medicine is proud to announce the appointment of Andy T. McGown, M.D. as assistant professor at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine.
Dr. McGown earned his medical degree from the MUSC, Charleston, South Carolina and his family medicine residency at Caraway Medical Center in Birmingham, Alabama. He completed a non-operative sports medicine fellowship at the Andrews Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Center in Birmingham, Alabama.
Dr. McGown treats patients of all ages with musculoskeletal problems. His areas of special interest are visco supplementation for arthritic patients and acute care of athletic injuries. He has the ability to treat orthopaedic patients that are seeking non-operative care or extend care until surgery is a necessary treatment option.
He was born and raised in the Columbia area and has nearly 15 years of experience in Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine. Dr. McGown will begin seeing patients in our Two Medical Park location in March 2009. Appointments can be made by calling 434-7121.
